How did you two meet?
Ben and I met at work in the summer of 2006. We shared a love of bikes and became fast friends, riding the Chicago lakefront bike path together.

How did your groom propose?
We were snowboarding at the Canyons Resort in Park City in February 2012. We were about halfway down the Mercury run when Ben stopped ahead of me and signaled me to ride over. When I stopped in front of him, he got down on both knees (he was strapped to his snowboard), pulled off his glove, showed me the beautiful ring he had been hiding on his pinky finger, and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked!

What was your favorite date between the two of you?
I was living in Chicago and Ben was living in Salt Lake City early in our relationship. During my first winter visit, Ben took me up to Brighton Ski Resort. I had been on a snowboard only once before. The time, effort, patience, and encouragement Ben showed while teaching me safe and proper technique really impressed me. I fell in love with him that day.

Where did you find your inspiration for planning your wedding?
Ben and I wanted something that would be both comfortable and inviting for our guests, but also wanted that “wow factor” with beautifully rustic, yet romantic details. Harvest Moon Events and the Canyons Resort helped us to create the perfect atmosphere for our special day.

What was your favorite moment of the day?
We decided to do “first look” photos at the recommendation of our lovely photographer, Jacque, of Jacque Lynn Photography. Jacque had Ben hide on a small trail close to our ceremony location. She then led me to meet him. When I finally reached Ben, and he turned around, it couldn’t have been more perfect. It was so nice to have our first moment together on our wedding day be a more private moment. It was really special for both of us.

What would you do differently/ what advice would you give to someone just starting the planning process?
To those newly engaged couples just beginning the planning process, I would say 3 things:
1. If you are paying for your wedding yourself, start putting money aside in a savings account immediately, and save as much as you can until your wedding day. There’s no harm in over-saving!
3. Plan together. Your wedding day is about both of you, and both of you should be represented in every aspect of your wedding. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to get in the habit of working together.
2. Chances are, things on your wedding day will not be 100% perfect. And that’s okay. Prepare yourself to accept it, and choose to have a blast! It’s your wedding day!

What were the most important details to pulling off your dream wedding?
The Canyons Resort did such a beautiful job helping us bring the three most important details form our wedding to life.
1. Our dogs – One of the main reasons we chose the Canyons Resort was because they allowed us to include our dogs as part of our ceremony. Rosie and Betty are our family, and it was so important to include them in our special day.
2. Our Family – The majority of our family and friends traveled from across the country to join us in Utah for our wedding. The Canyons Resort offers so many fun summer activities for all of us to do together. The best part was everyone was able to stay within a 10 minute walk of each other. Being able to spend as much time together as we did was the best. It was truly a gift.
3. The Food – Ben and I love to eat, and we really wanted the food at our wedding to represent the Latin American food we grew up eating. The team from the Canyons Resort allowed us to customize the menu, and even helped us to accommodate our guests who keep Kosher. The food was amazing from start to finish! Maybe I’m biased, but I’ve never had at another wedding that was as delicious as ours!

Tell us about THE dress and what inspired your look.
Let me start off by saying I LOVE MY DRESS! I’m not the girl who dreamed about my perfect wedding dress for years and years. When I started my search, I was consistently drawn to colorful dresses, especially blush pink. And when I saw Monique Lhuillier’s Candy in the store, I literally jumped up and down. The varied shades of blush and ivory tulle, the beading, the sweetheart neckline, the defined waist…love love love. Add the veil, shoes, and jewelry, and my whole family was in tears. It was absolutely the perfect dress for me, and I’m so thankful to have found it at Alta Moda.
