Head Over Heels: Modern Bows

03/5/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: , - No Comments

Karen Millen is, quite likely, my favorite ready to wear line.  I can’t get enough of their great tailoring, statement dresses, and now shoes.

Check out the stylish pair shown below.  The silk crepe de chine would be perfect with a wedding dress!

And, if you’ve been in and seen some of our new gowns that have arrived, you know there are a few styles in particular (and one absolutely amazing Anne Barge) that these shoes would complement.

It’s not bad to buy your shoes before you gown, is it?

Vintage Magpie

My recent last night stumbles led me to Vintage Magpie.  This crafty character creates some stunning arrangements all made of vintage and heirloom textiles, jewels, and adornments.

These sumptuous bouquets would serve brides well that have multiple events, like bridal photos, receptions, and open houses.

What a wonderful way for you to have a truly unique bouquet and keepsake.

Now, do you think we can get her to ship to the states?

Page After Beautiful Page

The Spring 2010 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings is out!

Yesterday, we received our copy.  Page after page is filled with classically beautiful ideas, dresses, real weddings, and even more dresses.

The editorial section opens with a diaphanous Vera Wang.

You’ll have to come in to see just how fantastic the skirt is on this lighter-than-air Monique Lhuillier.

You’ll also find a lovely Ines Di Santo, Anne Barge, and Melissa Sweet on the pages.

If you pick up a copy, please, for your own sake, make sure you’re sitting down and have at least two hours to spare.

They’ll take away the stress and have you arriving in style.

Make Room for Macaroons

02/13/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: , - No Comments

Yesterday, NPR published an article about the new “it” dessert.  Macaroons are set to take over the cupcake as the new treat in town.  There can be no doubt this will transfer seamless into weddings.  (Save the seams for your gown.)

Perfect for weddings, this petite, flavorful confection adapts to color and palette like no other dessert.  Not to mention they’re just so tasty.

Through the creative inspiration of Culinary Crafts and Utah Bride and Groom, we discovered this scrumptious idea a few months back.

Let us know which colors of macaroons you’ll choose.

Whilst catching up on Darcy’s Idea of the Day, I came across the image below of white Easter lillies laced together to create a stunning ceremony backdrop.

The clean simplicity struck me as fresh and simply innovative.  It’s contemporary, timeless, and I love it.

Cathedral Not Included

01/25/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: , , - No Comments

Everything old is new again.  Happily, this includes cathedral and chapel length veils that sweep to or even beyond your train.  Utah brides have been requesting longer veils this year.  Cathedral veils can add an element of ornamentation to a simple gown or an extra punch to a detailed dress.

Extended veils work beautifully whether your hair is up or down and photographers love them.  They can bring a dynamic and mysterious feel to your bridal photographs.

They’re romantic, graceful, and timeless, …and no, you wont look like Maria in the Sound Of Music.  We even have a great way of making them convertible so you can still wear it for your dancing and reception celebrations.

Also, when else can you get away with wearing such a splendid accessory?

Just so you know, our cathedral veil selection includes dozens of styles accented by lace, beading, dotted tulle, ruffles, metallic edges, satin trims, and the superbly simple.

Oh, monogrammed, too!
