A Surprise from Blossom Sweet

03/9/12 - By: Hilary - Topics: , - No Comments

Just in time for the trunk show, Melissa Nickle of Blossom Sweet made our day with a bouquet of refreshing white flowers. If you’re not already coming in for the event or to meet Antonio (really though, he’s a dream, you should come meet him), come on in to take a look and a lingering whiff of Melissa’s fragrant arrangement.

Fresh From Paris

01/26/12 - By: Hilary - Topics: , - No Comments

Have you ever noticed how the little things really make all the difference? Those seemingly small details that so perfectly complete your wedding day look?  Well, we just received a package of those all important finishing touches from Paris by Debra Moreland.

Her enamel hair pins and combs are a notable accent for blonde hair. (Actually, they look smashing on any shade.)

There’s also a new statement-making earring and an old favorite earring back in-stock.

Bridesmaid Trends 2012

01/5/12 - By: Lenni - Topics: , , - 1 Comment

Hello readers!

Maybe you’ve heard of Alta Moda’s sister shop, Lily & Iris? We’re a shop completely dedicated to the other women in the bridal party. From maids to mom and back again, we’ve got everything to make sure finding the other dresses for the wedding is as fun and easy as the bridal gown is sure to be!

Today, we’ve been asked to share with you, Alta Moda readers, a little bit about the exciting new trends and fun new looks in bridesmaid dresses for the coming year. So, without further ado, here’s what we’re seeing!

Low and open backs:

Whether formal and classic or fun and sassy, the open-backed dress will definitely be making a statement this year. We’re seeing it in everything from satin to silk to jersey, and we’re loving it in everything. There is nothing so classically sexy as a dramatic open back, and we can’t wait to see girls taking advantage of this stunning trend.

Draped fabrics:

Always a classic choice, but with some new twists in the coming year, soft, draped fabrics are being seen in some of our favorite styles. Amsale maids have introduced a brand new fabric to add to their already fabulous repertoire, with a soft, silky charmeuse, and we’ve fallen in love with their jersey line too! You have to feel these fabrics to believe them, and once you’ve put one on you aren’t going to want to take it off. How can you go wrong with a bridesmaid dress that both makes you look and feel fabulous?

Sleeves:

A trend that is especially close to our hearts here in Utah, we are seeing sleeves done in so many innovative and super stylish ways we can’t wait to see what the designers come up with next. From pleated raglan sleeves to draped shoulder caps, the options are constantly growing. Say goodbye to the “frumpy” cap sleeve, ladies, it may just be headed out for good.

Texture:

While we love a beautiful soft silk or taffeta gown, designers are wowing us this year with some amazing new fabrics and textures and we can’t wait to see more. New bridesmaid styles in pretty lace and textured satins are adding new dimension to classic color and simple silhouettes.

With so many new and exciting options in bridesmaid dresses, bridal parties are looking more and more stylish every day. And with Spring 2012 samples arriving in store every day, we simply can’t wait to show you these beautiful dresses! Call us at 801-413-3233 to book your appointment, and get ready to dress your ‘maids to impress!

Dessy's Pantone FandeckYou’ll find it a handy go-to tool for all your color-matching needs. The 2012 edition (compact and portable) is now out and you can order yours through out sister store, Lily & Iris – the master of all things colorful.

Beckett & Robb’s Stylish New Shop

11/23/11 - By: Hilary - Topics: - No Comments

Your favorite home-grown suit maker, Beckett & Robb, recently opened their doors on a new downtown Salt Lake City showroom. Justin and I dropped in yesterday for the grand tour and, we must say, it’s everything you’d expect from the savvy and suave gentlemen behind this bespoke label.

Located at 150 South Main (even their address sounds classy), their new shop carries a variety of samples from their made-to-measure possibilities, as well as ties, knots, pocket squares, tie clips AND a whole new line of ready-to-wear full suits. (For those of you needing something in a hurry.)

What We’re Loving: Modern Elegance

11/11/11 - By: Hilary - Topics: - No Comments

Lately, all of us at the shop have chatted about how much we love clean elegance in weddings. Sometimes the fuss gets in the way of the beauty. (Remember, you’re the beauty!)

So, today, when we saw a post on Martha Stewart Weddings about Modern Jewel Tone Cakes, we instantly felt an affinity.

Now In-Store: Larissa

Meet Larissa – Our newest gown from Modern Trousseau. You don’t need me to spend time describing the playful wedding dress you can see below, so I’ll expound on her virtues. Like how light-weight she is. How effortlessly this gown will contour the curves you want it to. How great she looks with this little Milk-Stone belt we have.

Amy Kuschel’s “Made in America” approach is far more than the label in her wedding dresses, it became the design direction for her 2012 collection. What a fresh concept.

She delivers simple and chic, sans fuss but with plenty of glamour.

Here’s a quick glimpse:
