No Homework Required

This Thursday, February 18th, is Utah’s first ever Brideology Educational Party.  This is not a bridal fair (whew!), rather an intimate and personalized gathering where you can learn the need-to-know tips and tricks for a successful, luxurious wedding here in the Beehive State.

I will be bringing some of my new, favorite lovelies.  Gowns that’ll knock your socks off! (You might even want to wear two pair, just to be safe.)

Because this is an exclusive event, you’ll need to register. You can find all the details here, here, and here.

See you Thursday.

Great Little Places

02/9/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: - No Comments

Are you one of those brides planning a small wedding?  You know, not sending out 700+ invitations?  (For those of you that are in the latter group, hold tight, we’ll post soon for you.)  If your vision is big, but guest list is, let’s say, well edited, check out some of our local loves.

The short list of petite venues here in Salt lake City:

Trio – In downtown or Cottonwood, you have two choices for your wonderful wedding.  An unquestioned Alta MODA staff favorite.

Caffe Molise – In the heart of downtown, but offering a great escape on their expansive patio, you’ll love it there.  Think fantastic food in a chic environment.

The Little White Chapel – With one of the most perfect views in Salt Lake, this cozy chapel sits at the curb of the State Capitol.  Shown here through the eyes of Opie.

Have we missed one of your favorites?  Let us know and we’ll spread the word.

Brideology

02/2/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: , - No Comments

Brideology by definition: the science of bridal planning in all its forms and phenomena with reference to wedding, beauty, romance, entertainment, and education.

A must-attend bridal education party will be held on the evening of February 18th, 2010 at an exquisite location between Salt Lake and Utah counties. {want location? Visit site} Eight of Utah’s leading wedding vendors will be gathering in this place, at this time {seven to nine pm} to share with you {the planning bride} a priceless, no pressure educational experience.

You will learn the short & long term value of a professional photographer.  What to wear to maximize your engagement pictures.  The difference between film makeup and everyday makeup.  Bridal hair trends.  Current bridal gown and accesory fashion trends.  The value of event design and great rental pieces, such as linens.  Cake tasting.  Floral trends and the difference between your aunt Betty’s flowers, a shop’s flowers, and a designer’s flowers.  Costco catering or profesional catering, and so much more!

These vendors are providing a priceless education to the planning bride, something that has not been done before. No strings attached, just a night of fun!  If you want to attend, you must visit the brideology site and register. Seating is limited.

Huesday: The Year of Turquoise

01/19/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: , , , - 2 Comments

Pantone, the leading force in all that is color and all colors, announced that Turquois is the color of the year for 2010.

Now you ask, “How can I interpreter this for my wedding?”  There are your obvious ways: bridesmaids dresses, table linens, groomsmen accents, and so on.

Maids in Turquoise

Less conventionally, take the prolific-but-personal trend of colorful wedding shoes and go for turquoise. The coveted red sole is an added bonus. (Our bride Shakay recently sauntered in wearing the gold version…we all melted.)

The red sole is that added touch of luxury

What about your rehearsal dinner?  Because it can/should be obviously different from your wedding day, toss in this lively hue with your dress.  A flattering shade on most everyone.

You could also think earlier and infuse it in your save the date cards.

For a subtle and sweet gesture, give your attendants a gift of turquoise.  I like Blue Bijou for this bracelet.  Perfect with a  little cocktail frock, or to fancy up your favorite jeans and top.

Do you have more ideas?  Let me know, I’d love to hear about and share them.

When Shardae put on the gown, she just knew it.  She was that sure of herself and that sure of her Monique Lhuillier wedding dress.  She mentioned something to the effect the it just felt like her.  Romantic, pretty, and clever…yep, that’s Shardea.

Her event was held at Sleepy Ridge in Utah County and captured by the talented Darla Roze Photography.
