NYFW: Monique Lhuillier

02/19/12 - By: Hilary - Topics: , - 1 Comment

I’m a bit behind on this, but while doing a little shop talk with Melodie (the darling blonde that brides love to meet on Saturdays), it made me want to share some of our favorites from Monique Lhuillier’s Fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection from New York Fashion Week.

As you’ll see, it was strong, femme-fatale collection that danced around reds and blacks, with splashes of plum and gold.

We can’t wait to see which of her new looks turn up on the Oscar red carpet next week. Also, we’d love to see several of these in ivory. (Can’t you just imagine that last gown in beautiful bridal white?!)

Hand-Crafted Romance

02/1/12 - By: Hilary - Topics: - No Comments

A long-time favorite of Alta Moda brides and staff, Laura Jayne has done it again with a whole new round of romantic and hand-crafted wedding accessories. We’re big fans of her supple illusion net, faceted crystals, and lace accented veils.

If you’re looking for hair and jewelry accents for your wedding day that are effortless and timeless, but that still delivery some subtle drama, her line may be just what you’re looking for.

Fresh From Paris

Have you ever noticed how the little things really make all the difference? Those seemingly small details that so perfectly complete your wedding day look?  Well, we just received a package of those all important finishing touches from Paris by Debra Moreland.

Her enamel hair pins and combs are a notable accent for blonde hair. (Actually, they look smashing on any shade.)

There’s also a new statement-making earring and an old favorite earring back in-stock.

Have you been waiting for it to snow as much as we have? The cold Utah winter just isn’t the same without the glimmer of the infamous snow.

Since the weather isn’t delivering quite yet on the sparkle, many of our accessory designers seem to have filled the bill.

Here are a few new bridal hair ornaments to add a little shine to your wedding day do.

Behind the Scenes: Rooftop Shoot

12/4/11 - By: Hilary - Topics: , - 2 Comments

When you put the charming Britt Chudleigh on a roof-top with a gorgeous model (Katie, a rather recent Alta Moda bride) all adorned in Monique Lhuillier, with clever styling by Flavia of Versa Artistry, you can bet that something sumptuous will prevail.

Until we can unveil the final creation from this chilly-but-pretty Salt Lake City shoot, here are a few behind the scenes shots for you.

Thanks to Britt, Flavia, Katie, and Lenni for making this happen.

You’ll see the final product here soon.

The Dreaded X

09/1/11 - By: Megan - Topics: , - 1 Comment

You have spent you summer at the pool with your best friends planning the wedding of your dreams. Everything has come together beautifully. You get to the final fitting of your gown, it looks stunning on you- and then you see it.

The dreaded X.

Some tan lines can last up to a year before fading away. Here is an easy regime to banish yours before your big day.

Exfoliate- Exfoliation gloves work very well paired with your favorite body scrub. Start exfoliating daily.

Apply Sunless Tanner- It is better to get a good mist on tan like the kind the Versa Spa booths offer. If you would rather do it at home, a good lotion tanner will almost always give you a better coverage than the aerosol tanner.

Apply Sunscreen- Every time you stick your arm out the window, sit at an outdoor event, or go for a run, you are creating an uneven tan. Please stick with a sunscreen with an SPF higher than 30 and apply it generously. Again, the lotions are better than the aerosol.

Your photographer will thank you when he/she does not have to photo-shop that bikini off you in your wedding photos.

Happy Tanning!

2012 Runway Hair Trend

07/30/11 - By: Megan - Topics: , - No Comments

Classics are classic for one reason. They work. The 2012 bridal runways have one big thing in common this year – Hair. The most flattering hairstyle for any neckline is both simple and elegant. The Bun is making a fabulous comeback. It is one style you can customize to be as unique as you.

Are you going for a vintage feel? Try something slightly undone, braided and full of texture.

How about something more traditional? A smooth high bun with a veil is a great touch.

Don’t be afraid to accessorize simple hairstyles. Sometimes the most complimentary hairstyles are rather minimal on their own. Think of your gown, setting and overall feel for your wedding when deciding your perfect hairstyle.

Complete Your Look

05/25/11 - By: Hilary - Topics: , - No Comments

Brides, it’s time to get your accessories lined-up. Summer wedding season is here, and those finishing touches are an essential part of your overall look.

Look through most any wedding blog, and the brides are wearing several accessory pieces – bracelet, hair ornament, earrings, necklace, and so on. As you try on options, it may feel as though you’re wearing too much, but consider your overall picture (literally, think of your wedding photos-to-be) and you might feel the need for one, two, three accent items.

Below are one of our newest earrings from Nancy Ciccone. They make a statement without being overwhelming.
