Quick Tip: A Flower In Your Hair

02/11/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: - No Comments

Fresh flowers in your wedding day do are an unquestionably elegant choice.  The one quick tip for fresh, as opposed to feather or fabric flowers, is to have a back-up.

After an emotional ceremony and embrace after embrace, hair flowers can get a touch wilted.  Having a vibrant, crisp incarnation of your original will freshen-up your look for the reception and after-party.

The wonderful wedding day style shown above (on Alta MODA bride Amber) is from Enizio.  Who else?

Cathedral Not Included

01/25/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: , , - No Comments

Everything old is new again.  Happily, this includes cathedral and chapel length veils that sweep to or even beyond your train.  Utah brides have been requesting longer veils this year.  Cathedral veils can add an element of ornamentation to a simple gown or an extra punch to a detailed dress.

Extended veils work beautifully whether your hair is up or down and photographers love them.  They can bring a dynamic and mysterious feel to your bridal photographs.

They’re romantic, graceful, and timeless, …and no, you wont look like Maria in the Sound Of Music.  We even have a great way of making them convertible so you can still wear it for your dancing and reception celebrations.

Also, when else can you get away with wearing such a splendid accessory?

Just so you know, our cathedral veil selection includes dozens of styles accented by lace, beading, dotted tulle, ruffles, metallic edges, satin trims, and the superbly simple.

Oh, monogrammed, too!

Huesday: The Year of Turquoise

01/19/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: , , , - 2 Comments

Pantone, the leading force in all that is color and all colors, announced that Turquois is the color of the year for 2010.

Now you ask, “How can I interpreter this for my wedding?”  There are your obvious ways: bridesmaids dresses, table linens, groomsmen accents, and so on.

Maids in Turquoise

Less conventionally, take the prolific-but-personal trend of colorful wedding shoes and go for turquoise. The coveted red sole is an added bonus. (Our bride Shakay recently sauntered in wearing the gold version…we all melted.)

The red sole is that added touch of luxury

What about your rehearsal dinner?  Because it can/should be obviously different from your wedding day, toss in this lively hue with your dress.  A flattering shade on most everyone.

You could also think earlier and infuse it in your save the date cards.

For a subtle and sweet gesture, give your attendants a gift of turquoise.  I like Blue Bijou for this bracelet.  Perfect with a  little cocktail frock, or to fancy up your favorite jeans and top.

Fast Feature: Jessica

The lovely Jessica was photographed late this fall in and around downtown Salt Lake City.  Ritrato Photography captured the true grace and warm character of one of our kindest brides.

The bride’s gown is Kelly by Augusta Jones, but, in true Alta MODA fashion, she customized the neckline and shoulder.  The spot-on hair and make-up styling were by Enizio.

Recently, Jamie posted a blog about pearls and their perpetual place in wedding fashion.  And, as it turns out, we just received our new pearl collection from Meg Jewelry.

Take a look at a few of our favorites:

Huesday: Taffy Tones

Pink, Orange and Yellow have been popular wedding colors for a few years now, but recently I’ve noticed a different take on this combination; Taffy Tones.

Think soft, muted, and matte.

Bride’s Night Out

11/12/09 - By: Hilary - Topics: , , , , - No Comments

What a night!  Last night Alta MODA was privileged enough to have dozens of our brides drop in for a Bride’s Night Out.

Catered food from Brown Brother’s Catering kept us all coming back for more.  The caramel-filled, chocolate desserts were a crowd favorite.  Decor, including unbelievable gorgeous entry-way lamps, were provided by Alpine Event Rentals.  Make-Overs were done on-site by the high-style team at EnizioFotoCabina kept our brides entertained with their luxury photo booth.  And sample bouquets from Every Blooming Thing were on-hand and in-hand to help brides get the total picture.

Feather Light

Feather Flowers, along with or paired with Bird Cage Veils, are the current key wedding accessory.

Wear them high and to the side of a veil, low and tucked just behind the ear, or delicately placed beneath your veil for a soft and mysterious look.

Here are some of our favorites:
