Jorge’s gowns (and, yes, I say that like I know him…) are contemporary, clean, dramatic, and definitely sexy. Oh, to be able to wear such a masterpiece on your wedding day. Oh, wait, you can!

You know my staff is pretty amazing.  But, did you know they’re pretty pretty?

Take a quick (or extensive) look at our Kate as photographed by Erin Kate.  You’ll find it pretty clear both gals involved here are all about the pretty.

Thanks Kate and Erin Kate.

Make Friends with 30 Strangers

If you don’t have plans this Friday night, you do now.  If you do have plans this Friday night that don’t involve the 30 Strangers exhibit, cancel them. You get where I’m going.

Justin Hackworth’s annual 30 Strangers exhibit and fundraiser kicks-off tomorrow night, July 2nd, and Alta MODA could not be more honored to be a sponsor.

If you’re thinking. “But, I don’t have anyone to go with”, look for me, and we’ll be gallery guests together.  Or, better yet, look for Justin and his wife, Amy – friendliest people I know.

See you there.

Leave it to Amy Kuschel to put a contemporary spin on the lace wedding dress.  From her 2010 collection , Paris is sweet, soft, and shapely.

This gown will make you happy when you see it move; that’s when the playful hem comes alive.

Take a hot summer day off and come visit Paris.  No passport required.

Head Over Heels: Frill the Love

I am an unapologetic sucker for most anything Karen Millen.  So, when you toss in a ruffles and frills all in one shoe that is so apropos bridal, well, it must be shared.

Bridals: Carlee

Carlee Carlee Carlee!  It’s hard not to pull out all the frequented phrases for how great of a gal this bride is.  Carlee first came in to Alta MODA in December looking for lace.  When a bride is searching for lace, it’s hard not to be magnetized toward Monique Lhuillier.  And that’s just where Carlee landed.

Monique Lhuillier is in Utah at Alta MODA

This beautiful bride, with eyes that would make the bluest of sky jealous, was photographed by Alisha at Oakstream Photography.  If you knew the two personalities involved, you’d know why these images turned out so magical.

When looking through the photos, I had the most impossible time editing it down to not-too-many, and I failed.  But when something’s this pretty, you understand.

Before long, Carlee and her new better-half’s wedding will be posted, too.

Stay tuned for more blue-eyed goodness.

Architectural Digest

This week (and likely next),  we are enamored of architecturally-inspired wedding dresses.  What constitutes an “architectural wedding dress”, you ask?  Think clean lines, structured fabric, and details with a more geometric or folded approach.

Because gowns with those design details are lean and lithe, you’ll love how your figure looks and feels in simple but stylish wedding dresses like these:

A Quick Thank You

06/21/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: - No Comments

Hi, I’m Hilary and I write most of the posts here.  So, you’re often stuck with my voice, syntax, and musings.  But, there’s so much more to Alta MODA and the true voice of our bridal shop goes far beyond mine.  Much, much further.

Having recently returned to the shop after a seminar, sweeping changes took effect.  The impressive staff you know and love not once blinked at the new ideas, but rather ran with them.  Bridal mavens each of them.

Jamie heads-up managing and keeping us all on task (I’m her biggest challenge).  Melissa supervises all alterations (no small task), and Kate sees over merchandising and the occasional (frequent) giving of a hard time to Melissa. (That particular task is rather enjoyable, actually.)  Melodie joins us on the weekends and helps keep control of bustling  Saturdays.

Now, if you have been or are a current Alta MODA bride, (yay!) you’ve met at least one of our two seamstresses. The magic combination for a perfect (and I do mean perfect) seamstress isn’t just skill, experience, and talent.  No, it seems the secret is intelligent, eloquent, (somewhat quirky) red-heads.  That’s the mark of a wedding dress alterationist extraordinaire.  (How lucky am I that I have two that fit that bill?)  I have had the privileged of working with Pamela for nine years. (Always joke she should have been one of my sisters.)  Sarah was roped in by yours truly two years ago.

Though you may not hear their voices on this blog too often, each of these wonderful women make-up what Alta MODA is; devoted to you.  Whether you’re a bride, wedding pro, friend, vendor, or fan (hoping all of the prior fit into the fan category) these women who make my life easy are here for you.

Thank you for reading my over-due thank you.

Happy Father’s Day

06/20/10 - By: Hilary - 1 Comment

Just a quick note to send a Happy Father’s Day for all of the endless love and support our fathers pass along and share. Above is a photo of my parents on their wedding day back in 1970.

Things I love about my father:

His intelligence

His passion for travel

And that he named his calculator

Happy Father’s Day!
