Blooms & Co.

01/19/12 - By: Hilary - Topics: - No Comments

If you spend a lot of time in downtown Salt Lake City (like we do), you’ve probably driven by  Blooms & Co. It’s the cute little flower shop on 200 East with the big alluring windows. We got a special treat today when Brynn dropped by with this adorable arrangement (note the dark calla lilies, a fave stem of ours). Thanks so much, Brynn!

Blooms & Co. does it all when it comes to flowers, from weddings to corporate events, to flowers for Valentine’s Day. Check them out and tell them Alta Moda says hi!

Trunk Show season is upon us. We start off February with Utah favorites Anne Barge and Badgley Mischka on February 9th & 10th.

To prime you for the fabulous event, we discovered that JuneBug Weddings featured a moody and mysterious concept shoot today featuring a coral wedding dress from Anne Barge. The image and the gown are both eye-catching and rich.

Golden Globe Gowns

01/16/12 - By: Hilary - Topics: - 1 Comment

There is so much inspiration to be pulled from the red carpet, and last night proved even more so with the Golden Globes fashion parade.

There were many dominating trends: dramatic backs, sleeves (A Utah fav/must-have), bold Valentine colors (red/pink), nudes and neutrals.

It was a tough task narrowing down our favorites to an acceptable blog post length, so indulge in a few of our top choices:

Claire Danes in J. Mendel -  The modern simplicity and stunning low back

Modern Trousseau knows that sometimes you just need a little drama, lot of sparkle, and even more romance. Sure, they do the lace dress to perfection, but now you’ll discover that a full ball-gown can be equally as timely and graceful through their gown Wallis.

Cover Story: Utah Valley Bride

Congratulations to our bride Jeantte and photographer Rebekah Westover for landing (rather gracefully) on the cover of Utah Valley Bride.

Behind that parasol is a striking Badgley Mischka wedding dress – You get a bit of  teaser of how fabulous it is from the skirt.

The bride helped design the modest variation on the bodice, but you’ll have to pick-up a copy to see all the other splendid details of her gown, wedding and celebration.

New Issue: Salt Lake Bride & Groom

01/8/12 - By: Hilary - Topics: - No Comments

Salt Lake / Park City Bride & Groom’s new issue is out and it is beautiful. You’ll fall in love with the cover (featuring a Vera Wang), and the touch of the paper (luxuriously smooth), and the fashion editorial (garden glam at its best), and the real weddings (we, very humbly, have two brides featured).

Congratulations to Tessa and her team on creating a rather notable and impressive issue that will surely inspire and intrigue Utah brides.

Nothing but the best.

New Year, new gowns. Vienna, a shimmery frock from Martina Liana, is one of the newest bridal gowns at the boutique.

Beaded wedding dresses - Salt Lake CityYou’ll find that this gown has the just-right amount of beading on the bodice – Enough for the bride that wants some sparkle, but not so much that it’ll overwhelm you. Pair it with the light-as-air chiffon (that’s right, a chiffon ballgown) skirt, and you’re perfectly balanced.

Bridesmaid Trends 2012

01/5/12 - By: Lenni - Topics: , , - 1 Comment

Hello readers!

Maybe you’ve heard of Alta Moda’s sister shop, Lily & Iris? We’re a shop completely dedicated to the other women in the bridal party. From maids to mom and back again, we’ve got everything to make sure finding the other dresses for the wedding is as fun and easy as the bridal gown is sure to be!

Today, we’ve been asked to share with you, Alta Moda readers, a little bit about the exciting new trends and fun new looks in bridesmaid dresses for the coming year. So, without further ado, here’s what we’re seeing!

Low and open backs:

Whether formal and classic or fun and sassy, the open-backed dress will definitely be making a statement this year. We’re seeing it in everything from satin to silk to jersey, and we’re loving it in everything. There is nothing so classically sexy as a dramatic open back, and we can’t wait to see girls taking advantage of this stunning trend.

Draped fabrics:

Always a classic choice, but with some new twists in the coming year, soft, draped fabrics are being seen in some of our favorite styles. Amsale maids have introduced a brand new fabric to add to their already fabulous repertoire, with a soft, silky charmeuse, and we’ve fallen in love with their jersey line too! You have to feel these fabrics to believe them, and once you’ve put one on you aren’t going to want to take it off. How can you go wrong with a bridesmaid dress that both makes you look and feel fabulous?

Sleeves:

A trend that is especially close to our hearts here in Utah, we are seeing sleeves done in so many innovative and super stylish ways we can’t wait to see what the designers come up with next. From pleated raglan sleeves to draped shoulder caps, the options are constantly growing. Say goodbye to the “frumpy” cap sleeve, ladies, it may just be headed out for good.

Texture:

While we love a beautiful soft silk or taffeta gown, designers are wowing us this year with some amazing new fabrics and textures and we can’t wait to see more. New bridesmaid styles in pretty lace and textured satins are adding new dimension to classic color and simple silhouettes.

With so many new and exciting options in bridesmaid dresses, bridal parties are looking more and more stylish every day. And with Spring 2012 samples arriving in store every day, we simply can’t wait to show you these beautiful dresses! Call us at 801-413-3233 to book your appointment, and get ready to dress your ‘maids to impress!
