The Alta Moda Bridal BlogA brides guide to the dress and the rest

Fast Feature: Ariella and Mitchell

Ariella and Mitchell were married this past December in the Salt Lake LDS temple.  The bride, who hails from Korea, planned a sumptuous celebration at the Grand America Hotel.

We love a girl that goes for a ball gown.  Once the staple is wedding fashion, they swayed out of popularity for a while, but now they’re back.  Her photos are by Rick Brimhall.

Our thanks go out to the bride and her mom for giving us the pleasure of getting to know this wonderful family.  (We love how you wore your modest Atelier Aimee bridal gown!)

Congratulations Mitchell and Ariella!

Featured Designer: Anne Barge

02/4/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: , - 1 Comment

You were warned in a previous post that our unmanageable excitement for Anne Barge’s visit on the 12th and 13th (that’s just about a week!) would develop into a prolific posts.  So, here’s another one just for you.

Occasionally, I highlight a featured designer on this blog.  Well, this is no normal occasion, so it only made sense to not just feature Anne Barge as our designer d’jour, but to sing her praises.  (Be glad you don’t really have to hear me sing.)

When Justin and I attend the runway shows, it can seem hurried and transactional, but not at Anne’s show. Imagine melting as you witness a profound procession of seemingly perfect wedding dresses. That’s how we feel season after season of these classically nuanced gowns.  Her wedding dresses know how to embrace the trends you love, while offering a timeless sensibility.  Think Southern charm meets Parisian couture.

Our manager, Jamie, was able to head to the fair city of Atlanta a few months back to meet and work with Anne Barge and her stellar staff.  Jamie is now the Utah Anne Barge expert. Want to know all about beaded bodices?  She’s your girl!  Need your gown customized to a modest cut?  Jamie was used as the example of detailed customizing while in Georgia!  Is your wedding so soon that you feel stressed about getting a dress in time?  No worries, Anne Barge, time and again, has crafted impeccable gowns for encroaching schedules.  You’ll never feel more (deservedly) indulged.

Did the singing work?  I hope so, because I’d love to see you at the trunk show and give you personalized time with the designer extraordinaire, Anne Barge.

Valentine’s weekend.  Anne Barge.  Trunk show.  Can you imagine a more perfect time to find your gown? (That wasn’t really a question so much as a statement, but you got that.)

Inspired: Garland Backdrop

Whilst catching up on Darcy’s Idea of the Day, I came across the image below of white Easter lillies laced together to create a stunning ceremony backdrop.

The clean simplicity struck me as fresh and simply innovative.  It’s contemporary, timeless, and I love it.

Anne Barge at Alta MODA

01/31/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: , - No Comments

Big News: Anne Barge will be at Alta MODA on February 12th and 13th.  It has been three years since Utah was lucky enough to have this top-of-the-line wedding dress designer come to visit.  But, let me tell you, when she does it is quite the treat.  It promises to be an unforgettable trunk show.  (Last time, I was so excited, I still remember nervously pacing around the airport baggage claim giddily awaiting her arrival!)

In person, this Anne Barge dress will leaved you speechless

When Anne Barge last attended our trunk show, we were all in amazement watching her customize gowns for brides.  Seeing her sketch and create made us so proud to offer such a high-quality line to Utah brides.  Her collection brings you an incredibly diverse selection, all while capturing the spirit of the modern bride.

Beading is the hallmark of the Anne Barge bridal line

Need one more reason to come meet her?  On February 12th at 10:30, in conjunction with Utah’s Association of Fashion Designers, Anne Barge will be presenting a lecture at the Salt Lake City Library, followed by a Q&A session.  If ever you’ve been curious about the life of a fashion designer, you need to attend this event.  At the time of this post, the event was already half-full (like that optimistic glass of water), so call us soon to get more information and reserve your seat at this intimate event with a wedding industry leader.

PS- Expect a prolific amount of posts about Anne’s visit.  Our excitement is too great to contain!

Fast Feature: Martha and Jesse

01/28/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: , - 1 Comment

This east-coast couple wed last December in the Washington D.C. LDS temple with a festive holiday reception at the Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Just days before the bridal photographs, Virginia was blanketed by three feet of snow, as seen in these photos by Emily Jones.  Though cold, the bride mentioned how beautiful everything was.  We agree, the bride looks beautiful!

Congratulations Martha and Jesse.  Thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding.  Our time with you flew by too quickly.
