The Alta Moda Bridal BlogA bride's guide to the dress and the rest

To Our Friends in Weddings

07/29/10 - By: Hilary - No Comments

We love brides…we love them so much, and this blog is usually for them.  So, dear bride, feel free to read on, but know today’s post is directed to our friendly colleagues in the wedding world. (Some of you are, actually, both.)

Alta MODA is a proud sponsor of the WedSmith wedding professionals conference in Salt Lake City on September 28, 2010.  Nine amazing speakers will be headed to Utah to share tips, secrets, and a little tough love that anyone and everyone in weddings would want to know.

The entire Alta MODA staff is signed-up and signed-on to listen, take-in, and share in this great experience with their fellow wedding pros.  So, yes, the boutique will be closed that day.

It’s who and where we want to be.

Variations on a Theme

Flipping through (yes, again) the 2010 issue of Utah Bride and Groom, I once again fell head-over-heels for these glam images from Heidi Uhl in the Dressing Up section of the magazine.  If you have an issue, go take another look, you’ll concur.

The Rosa Clara gown featured in the editorial is a personal favorite.  The cut is modern and clean, and the fabric is soft and unique. You’ll have to feel it to truly understand.  (Consider that an invitation.)  Here, Heidi and the stylists show three clever takes on the same wedding dress.

Do you have a favorite?  Is one favorite really enough?

Teaser from David Perry

07/25/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: - No Comments

The title pretty much tells you what you’re about to see; a teaser that is sure to please from the talented-beyond-reason David Perry.

Rachel was recently filmed in and around Salt Lake City by David as part of her pre-wedding shoot with her fiance.  Oh, this little film is just so pretty – much like Rachel.

The bride’s wedding dress is by Ines Di Santo.  The bride’s smile?  Well, that’s obviously courtesy of her fiance.

When you come in and see this wedding dress, you’ll know instantly why our Melissa is enamored (perhaps even in-love with) this Anne Barge stunner.  It fits like a dream.

Couture ball gown - Salt Lake CityThis gown was here several months back for a trunk show. Our love for it grew in such a way that we had no choice but to give it a permanent place in the Utah wedding scene.

And she does make quite a scene, don’t you think?

Erin Kate’s island inspiration shoot was featured on one of our favorite blogs.  Who doesn’t love Southern Weddings!?  It was a thrill to be a part of this chic shoot. Check out the short and sweet wedding dresses from Melissa Sweet and Amy Kuschel.

Congrats, Erin. (Oh, and Happy Anniversary!)

Gotta Love Utah

07/19/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: - No Comments

Hello All.  Summer heat is in full swing.

July 24th is Utah’s official state holiday, so we wanted to give you a little head’s up that Alta MODA will be closed this Saturday.  It’s odd to think of a Saturday where we aren’t surrounded by beautiful brides fluttering around in glamorous gowns, but it will make next Saturday all the better.

Thanks and have a wonderful holiday weekend.

PS – Darling Jorge let us keep his trunk show gowns for one more week (Yeah!), so drop on in and enjoy.

Bridal Tip: Wedding Day Bugs

07/17/10 - By: Hilary - Topics: - No Comments

In honor of our super fabulous brides making the walk down the outdoor aisle today, here’s a quick tip for outdoor Utah weddings:

Don a quick spritz of bug spray hours before your celebration.  This gives the scent time to dissipate and keeps the liquid away from your gown.  As a good back-up for later in the night, have one of your bridesmaids keep a few dryer-sheets handy.  Smooth it over your exposed skin to keep bugs away for a few more hours.  Dryer-sheets are good bug repellent that smell nice and run no risk of leaving a residue on your beautiful wedding dress.

Enjoy the great outdoors.

Make Time for Jorge Manuel

If the darling taffeta ball gown shown below is any indication of the goodness to come this weekend (which, it is), you’ll not want to miss the Jorge Manuel trunk show that starts tomorrow.

Jorge Manuel couture wedding dresses - Salt Lake City, UtahJorge’s gowns are, as I like to say, not for the faint of heart.  They are for the bride that is kind of alright being in the spotlight.  The bride that not only understands new style, but has a flirtatious eye toward fashion.  This might be you.  But, you’ll have to come in to find out for sure.

Give us a call to set your appointment – 801.531.1215 But, be warned, there is no going back.

Fast Feature: Leah and Dean

Again, you’ll be treated to a generous selection of bridal images, because, once again, I could not narrow down my favorites to a reasonable number. This gorgeous gal, Leah, is tall, striking and confident. Her darling better-half, Dean, it appears, is one lucky man.  Nice match, don’t you think?

Leah, her equally confident mom, and sisters were welcomed friends with each visit to Alta MODA.  Like many brides in Utah, we had to do a little bit of a rush to get her gown in plenty of time – the only downfall was not getting to spend even more time with this gracious bride.
